Synopsis

Go Look follows one man's escalating battle with himself over something buried beneath his own deck. It starts small — a nagging thought he can't shake, a voice urging him to just go look.

But the longer he avoids it, the louder that voice gets, dragging him from the false comfort of his couch to a memory of peace he can't hold onto, and finally back to the one place he's been refusing to face.

Shot as a tightly wound micro-short and finished with an unsettling, hand-crafted visual style, Go Look builds a slow, creeping dread toward a final image you won't see coming — and an ending that recontextualizes everything that came before it.

Director's Statement

"I wanted Go Look to be an experiment in dread — eerie slow motion, distortion, tension — and I even had a disturbing ending to wrap it all up. But my wife said 'What if it's not a bad ending...' and thus the punchline was born that improved my micro-short tenfold!"

About the Film

A micro-short film from OFFTrail Pictures, shot on iPhone and finished in DaVinci Resolve with custom frame-retiming techniques to create its unsettling, step-printed dread. Go Look is proof that a big scare — and a bigger laugh — doesn't need a big budget.
